About Vintage & Varnish
Vintage & Varnish was established in 2015 and specializes in the refinishing and refurbishing of furniture in Edmonton, Alberta. Vintage & Varnish creates everything from reworked furniture, and glass etched tables to modern décor pieces, photo plaques and customized farmhouse signs.

After 3 years in business creating custom décor for others it became apparent that people longed to create their own handmade pieces and were eager for direction on how to make this happen. In January of 2018 sign painting parties were born!
Vintage & Varnish is owned and operated by Kelly Barker. Kelly currently lives in Edmonton with her husband – Mr. Vintage & Varnish – and their two children. When she isn’t spending time with her family, Kelly is creating in her home studio or out teaching other DIYers how to make their own wood signs and décor pieces.

Kelly’s favourite styles include modern boho, farmhouse, shabby chic, French Country and Industrial. Kelly loves to create in colour – rich bold and beautiful hues. If given the choice, she would never paint in white.

Who is Vintage & Varnish?
Kelly Barker has been immersed in the world of painting her entire life. After painting her first table at age 12, she developed a passion for reworking old furniture and transforming it into something beautiful.
Kelly bought, gutted and renovated her first home in 2010. Six years and many renovations later, with her and her husband Ryan’s second-born on the way, Kelly began refinishing an old crib, headboard, shutters and several small décor pieces.
After countless hours of love and labour were spent creating the perfect space for their daughter, Kelly realized her talent went beyond just a hobby. Thus, Vintage & Varnish was born.

Through the blending of tones and textures, Kelly is able to showcase traits and characteristics that are unique to a piece while still imagining something that is completely brand new.
