This solid oak sideboard was in excellent condition but was outdated and screaming for a makeover. Decorative mouldings were hand formed and used to frame out the door panels and add detailing to the corners and the base of the cabinet. Rope moulding and floral upholstery pins were used to frame out the top and add visual interest. The entire piece was painted in a deep blue and beautiful floral images with butterflies and bohemian inspired prints were added to the fronts of the door panels.
 
To create a washed out and worn look and add depth and detail in the mouldings, the entire piece was treated with a white wax. Copper gilding wax was then applied around the edges creating a beautiful metallic distress. Copper wax was also applied over the high spots of the decorative mouldings and across the rope trim to create additional depth and shimmer. The original hardware was updated with a copper paint to match.
 
The drawer and cabinet interiours were left original but we're cleaned and rubbed with a conditioning oil to freshen up their finish. The metal on wood drawer slides are in excellent shape and all drawers slide in and out with ease.
 
With five drawers and two large cupboards, this versatile cabinet easily adds storage to any room.

**Cabinet has been sealed with 3 coats of highly durable urethane/acrylic topcoat in a "Flat" sheen. The entire piece was then aged using two layers of coloured furniture waxes, adding additional protection and durability.
