With the addition of layers of texture, this beat down old dresser was given new life. The dresser top was coated in concrete and prior to drying a baroque pattern was pressed in to add a 3 dimensional textured finish. The rest of the dresser was hand painted and the side panels were given additional texture by painting using crosshatch strokes leaving a patterned detail in the brush lines. The entire dresser was then sealed in 2 coats of a urethane/acrylic topcoat.
To finish the look, the entire piece was hand waxed using a decorative white wax. The wax accentuates the flaws and texture in the concrete as well as highlights the patterned brush strokes and moulding details. The white wax softens the brighter teal colour and creates a slight beachy feel to the colour tones.
The original hardware was cleaned and brightened using a silver gilding wax to add a touch of metallic flair.
All drawers were primed and coated with a white melamine paint. The drawer slides were tightened and broken/loose pieces were replaced.
**Dresser was sealed with a highly durable urethane/acrylic topcoat in a "Flat" sheen and hand waxed with white wax for additional detail and protection. Drawer interiours were finished in melamine.
