"VERA"
This 80 year old solid wood vanity had simple lines and little character, she was well loved and had a little missing trim and some damage to her very large and heavy mirror. After spending her last years as a neutral coloured desk, I decided to give her some oomph with a super glam makeover.
 
I removed the remaining edging and replaced it all with handmade resin trim that had more texture and would better match her patterned drawer fronts. The original hardware was removed and the holes were patched and then she was primed and painted in a pure white. All of the drawer fronts were stenciled in a lacey floral print using a raised stencil technique. The textured front was created using glass beads suspended in a champagne metallic paint. To complete the makeover new glass hardware, that glimmers different shades of colour in the light, was added to the side drawers. The centre drawer was left as is to display the stencil work and opens from below with a hand carved wood pull.
 
A new to her (but still vintage) mirror was added with a more detailed framework. Handmade resin trim and detailing was added to tie the two pieces together. All resin details on both the desk and the mirror were painted a high gloss champagne metallic.
 
The drawer interiours were left original but we're scrubbed, sanded and rubbed down with a conditioning oil to freshen up their finish. The vintage wood on wood drawer slides were waxed and slide in and out with ease.

**Vanity top was sealed with 2 coats of highly durable urethane/acrylic topcoat in a "High Gloss" sheen for easy wipeability of beauty products. The remainder of the piece was treated with "all-in-one" paint that has includes a highly durable built in topcoat.
