"VALERIA"
This French Provincial cabinet was in bad need of a makeover - the floral carvings were outdated and the trim and legs were previously damaged by a teething puppy. To start, the floral carvings were removed using wood filler and the puppy damage was sanded and smoothed away. New trim molding was added to the bottom to compliment the existing hardware. The entire piece was then painted in 2 coats of an olive green base.
 
Old world charm was created by layering in multiple neutral colours and adding ageing wax. Using a ragging technique to layer in blues and grey created depth and natural age. Dark wax was added along the edges and corners to create a natural looking patina. The original hardware was cleaned and reinstalled and then accentuated using a gold gilding wax. The base molding was aged and waxed to match.
 
The interiour cabinet shelving was decoupaged in a beautiful rustic floral pattern to match the neutral tones on the exteriour of the piece. The drawers were refreshed with a good cleaning and some protective oil to moisturize the wood and extend its life. The slides were cleaned and waxed for easy gliding.

**Note - the height of this piece makes it best used as a credenza or console type table rather than a sideboard.
 
**This piece was sealed with 2 coats of high quality furniture wax. The interiour shelving was sealed with 2 coats of highly durable urethane/acrylic topcoat in a matte finish.
